Jesse’s life is no longer his. To keep him and his family safe, he’s had to follow a hacker named King’s outrageous demands for years, and has been watched through webcams, camera phones and King’s spies. One wrong move and he will face hefty punishments. This time, King has taken it one step further by threatening to kill Jesse’s little sister if he doesn’t get what he wants. Jesse can’t live like this any longer; he needs to eliminate King. Luckily, there’s one hacker that wants King gone just as much as he does.

Throughout the book, I couldn’t shake off the feelings of fear and uneasiness. The author does an extraordinary job placing the reader into the plot in order to evoke emotion. I especially loved that the characters had such realistic personalities, which made it easier to sympathize with them.

This book is anything but a light read. It is absolutely heart-wrenching to see teens living such miserable lives. Still, it is an engaging page-turner that I just couldn’t stop reading. I would recommend this book to a slightly older audience since it tackles very mature problems like stalking and suicide.

WATCHED by CJ Lyons is an intense thriller about hackers, cappers, and everyday teenagers.
