Tonight the Streets Are Ours

“‘Why doesn’t anybody love me as much as I love them?’” That’s the question that 17-year-old Arden Huntley, protagonist of TONIGHT THE STREETS ARE OURS by Leila Sales, can’t seem to answer. Her mother has walked out on her family. Her best friend has become too needy. Her boyfriend has taken her for granted. Looking for insight online, the kind and caring heroine discovers a blog by a New York City teen writer, Peter, who shares her thoughts and feelings. Determined to meet her Internet interest, Arden takes a road trip from her Cumberland, Maryland, home to the Big Apple. She finds Peter 311 miles later, but soon realizes he isn’t whom she made him out to be.

An interesting novel filled with adventure, emotion and plenty of high school drama, TONIGHT THE STREETS ARE OURS captures the teenage spirit and teens’ fascination and faith in the Internet.

The characters in TONIGHT THE STREETS ARE OURS are mostly relatable, and the story of self-discovery will resonate within the halls of any high school. I wish I could meet Arden; she’s the friend we all want to have, but her unselfish acts seem almost too good to be true.   Teen girls will envy Arden’s courage and enjoy her journey from a small town to a big city.

An interesting novel filled with adventure, emotion and plenty of high school drama, TONIGHT THE STREETS ARE OURS captures the teenage spirit and teens’ fascination and faith in the Internet.
