The Way to Game the Walk of Shame

Taylor Simmons is going to be valedictorian and is headed to Columbia University for pre-law after graduation. Evan McKinley is a surfer who hasn’t really thought much about things besides surfing, girls and parties. When Taylor concedes to going to a party with her friend and gets a little tipsy, things change for this Ice Queen. Evan and Taylor left the party together. No one knows what they did after, and Taylor doesn’t either. Evan claims that they didn’t do anything; but, when a guy like him has a reputation to sleep around Taylor’s reputation still slips and crashes.

“I would recommend [THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME] to anyone looking for a good romantic story to read.”

THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME by Jenn P. Nguyen sounds a bit like a typical young adult romance novel; however, in all honesty, it still felt like a good read. It’s difficult to write a complete summary since I don’t want to spoil the ending for any potential readers but if what I’ve written so far sounds interesting to you, then you should definitely check it out and get ready for a cute romance story that will put your heart on a rollercoaster.

I really did enjoy the plot of the story and the author’s specific word choices because it helps readers empathize with the characters; however, I felt like the story was missing something to push it to that next level. When I finished reading it, I felt like I wanted something more from it and I can’t quite place my finger on what it was exactly. The character development was perfect for the two main characters, but some of the other major characters were not as well developed, and I feel that if readers could get a bit more from those characters it could benefit the story.

Overall, I really did enjoy this story. All of its cheesiness and its somewhat perfect ending seems like a real-life fantasy dream of mine. I liked how realistic it was and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good romantic story to read, as long as you don’t mind cheesy lines.
