The Lunar Chronicles Coloring Book

Chokers aren’t the only thing that made a comeback in 2016.  Books have been brought to life through artwork in coloring books. People everywhere have fallen into this new fad. It is a way to relieve stress, while creating something that would look gorgeous hung up on your walls.

"Made for readers who love the series and Marissa Meyer's writing, the coloring book was just the cherry readers needed on top after finishing WINTER."

Marissa Meyer released a coloring book of her series The Lunar Chronicles. The setting of the series varies from the Sahara Desert to the colonized moon, most of which are beautifully laid out waiting to be colored. Made for readers who love the series and Marissa Meyer's writing, the coloring book was just the cherry readers needed on top after finishing WINTER. While the books do a great job of providing readers with a beautiful image of the world Meyer has created, the coloring book gives readers the chance to alter it as their imagination seems fit.

Readers aren’t limited to words anymore. They can follow the outline that Meyer has given them in her books, or they can completely disregard the series and go about it how they want. Nothing is set in stone anymore. They can change the colors to their liking. They can fill pages with exquisite patterns and color combinations, or keep them simple. It is up to them to decide. Art has shown to be such a positive form of expression and the combination of art and stories we all know and love, is amazing. I welcome it with open arms.

Personally, one of my favorite pictures to color was one of Iko --- more specifically, her hair. It was braided and I was able to color each braid differently. It wasn’t described that way in the book, but the colors appealed to me and I thought it was a perfect representation of Iko’s character. Coloring books give us a chance to spend more time in the stories we love, while bending it to what we prefer.
