No Place to Fall

No Place to Fall

Everyone in town knows that Amber Vaughn has a beautiful voice. They've all heard her sing in church each week. What most of the town doesn't know about are Amber's summer adventures with her best friend Devon and the hippie hikers passing on a nearby trail. When summer ends, Amber is determined to return to her normal life, which consists of her nephew Coby, school work and Friday nights with Devon.

But Amber's junior year isn't going the way she expected. One day Amber learns about a prestigious art school and decides to apply. Devon's brother, Will, offers to help Amber prepare for her audition. As the audition date approaches, Amber and Will's relationship becomes more and more complicated.

NO PLACE TO FALL by Jaye Robin Brown is a beautifully written novel…. I could not stop reading for even a second.

One day Amber's life changes completely and she is forced to face her friends and family. Will their love and support go far enough to help her through this event?

NO PLACE TO FALL by Jaye Robin Brown is a beautifully written novel. I picked it up at 9:00 p.m. one Friday night and by 11:00 p.m., I had already finished. I could not stop reading for even a second. I smiled at each of Amber's successes and I cringed each time she messed up. Although Brown includes many mature topics such as Amber's intimate relationships and her exposure to drugs, the complexity of the characters and the intricacy of the storyline kept me interested from cover to cover.

I would especially recommend this book to students who don't yet have the courage to pursue their dreams. Maybe, as you watch Amber rise above her challenges and face her fears, you'll discover that you have the strength to achieve your highest potential.
