Love Me or Miss Me: Hot Girl, Bad Boy

LOVE ME OR MISS ME is a captivating story about a young girl finding her way in the world. Kate, also known as Diamond, has gone through severe hardships in her life, and she has grown up in foster care. In the first half of LOVE ME OR MISS ME, Kate meets a new friend over the summer and soon falls into her bad influence. Kate is faced with a whirlwind when she experiences new things that she never thought she would be able to have. Kate has been in love with Charles forever but when she finally gets the chance she is backstabbed and learns who her friends truly are.

In the second half of the book, Kate falls in love with the seemingly perfect guy, Percy. She fears that she lacks judgment skills when he turns abusive, but she soon learns it is something she could never see. In the book LOVE ME OR MISS ME, Kate’s #bestiegoals friendship is put through the test. Things turn foul fast and Kate's soon learns that she was being deceived due to love. Kate is faced with the challenge of right and wrong throughout the book. Kates past is always lurking behind her and she is trying to become a new and improved Kate.

"The book is extremely real in how it describes how people get caught up in love and tend to ignore the negative. I believe this book will open a lot of eyes..."

The book LOVE ME OR MISS ME was originally two separate books about Kate's life, but they were put together for a special edition. The original books names were HOT GIRL and BAD BOY. It is similar to THE HATE U GIVE in the way that it follows an African American girl trying to find her way. From what I have seen, a lot of books don’t touch on most of the hard hitting subjects that are spoken about in LOVE ME OR MISS ME.

This book was overall pretty good, and I enjoyed that it was two books put together for a special edition. During the book I kept wishing that the author would have gone deeper into Kate's past, so as the reader you could get a deeper understanding of why she does certain things. I enjoyed the fact that I felt like I was in her head when she was talking about what she going through. I think Dream Jordan’s point was accomplished of showing a young African American girl going through hardships, love and loss. It can be very hard to read about physical abuse, such as what Kate went through at the hands of someone she thought she could trust. The book is extremely real in how it describes how people get caught up in love and tend to ignore the negative. I believe this book will open a lot of eyes about the hardships different people go through.

I would recommend LOVE ME OR MISS ME to teens who like to read about romance along with someone with some things that will have you at the edge of your seat. I know Kate's story kept me wondering because I never knew what she was going to do next. I would say this will be on a lot of teens TBR list as it is released. I can’t wait for people to read LOVE ME OR MISS ME and see how great of a book it is.
