Alice in Zombieland: White Rabbit Chronicles, Book 1

One minute, Alice’s father is driving the family home from her sister’s dance recital; the next, the family is dead from a terrible accident. As Alice fades from consciousness, she thinks she sees monsters diving into her father’s body on the road. Her world and her perception of reality are changed forever, and she finds a new mission in life. Paranormal, action and romance fans will find a lot to like here in this intriguing new series book by INTERTWINED author, Gena Showalter.

"In this start of a new series, Showalter brings action, monsters, romance and a realistic heroine together in a page-turning read."

After a summer in therapy at her grandparents’, Alice attends a new high school and befriends Kat, who she had met in the hospital. Her attention is also captured by Cole Holland, the leader of a rough group. When she and he make eye contact in the mornings, she has visions of them kissing and even fighting off monsters.

Cole asks her why she is having visions, and invites Alice to talk about the monsters she has seen. Before their death, her father had talked of monsters and the family thought he was ill. Now Cole tells her about his group and their secret mission against the zombies. He and she also kiss and the strength of their connection is powerful. But Alice is also drawn to Justin and agrees to go to a party with him. Cole and Justin fight at the party, and Cole tells her that Justin is working against his group and is trying to research the zombies rather than eliminate them. Cole then breaks with Alice, saying it is for her own good. When she leaves the party, she is chased by zombies and barely escapes with her life.

When she is rescued, she and Cole agree to work together again. Alice wants to help fight the creatures and begins to train with Cole and his friends, but it is clear from the attacks that the zombies are targeting her specifically. It is also clear that she is evolving some special skills. Cole tries to protect her grandparents, and her sister appears to her and begs her to be careful.

Soon she realizes she may know who the zombie who is after her is --- and this person wants her to join them. She does not know if she has the strength to say no, but when someone else close to her is killed, she grows closer to Cole and finds strength to deal with the enemy.

In this start of a new series, Showalter brings action, monsters, romance and a realistic heroine together in a page-turning read. Cole is a strong hero who is used to ordering everyone around. When Alice resists, the two of them become irresistible. Their relationship will be fun to watch as well as their mission against zombies in what will be a popular series.
