A Breath of Frost: The Lovegrove Inheritance

There is a darkness lurking beneath the ballroom dances and polite social gatherings of Regency London.

Emma’s life as a debutante is confined to wearing pretty white dresses and standing on the side of a ballroom waiting for gentlemen suitors. Then one day, she accidently unlocks a spell that reveals London’s magical underworld. Emma soon discovers that, as a Lovegrove, she comes from an ancient magical family and possesses powers that she must quickly learn to control, especially with the Order --- a magical governing body --- carefully watching her. When the sinister Greymalkin sisters return to London and other debutantes start getting murdered, Emma finds herself mysteriously connected to the crimes. Emma knows that the key to proving her innocence lies in unlocking the secrets of her dark family history. Now Emma must embrace her newfound abilities and protect herself from the Order --- or face losing her powers altogether.

With just the right blend of dark adventures, romance and clever dialogue, A BREATH OF FROST provides a refreshing and unique take on the world of witchcraft.

Alyxandra Harvey creates an irresistible and lively cast of characters in this first book of The Lovegrove Legacy.  Emma’s two cousins, Penelope and Gretchen, are equally surprised by their new powers and face their own struggles. They display a steadfast loyalty to Emma and their unabashed scorn for the pettiness of the other debutantes provides endless amusement. Also, further complications arise for Emma in the form of flirtatious and sexy Cormac Fairfax, who just so happens to work as a Keeper for the Order. Emma cannot deny that she is deliciously unsettled by his presence, but can she trust that their feelings for each other are more powerful than the vows Cormac made to serve the Order?

With just the right blend of dark adventures, romance and clever dialogue, A BREATH OF FROST provides a refreshing and unique take on the world of witchcraft. Harvey’s descriptions of all levels of society in Regency London transport readers back to the 1800s with breathtaking ease. This novel will keep readers riveted and eager to further explore this sinister, magical world in the upcoming sequel.
