October’s roundup of Cool & New Books includes a ENDANGERED by Eliot Schrefer, a recent National Book Award Finalist, which is a compelling tale of a girl who must save a group of bonobos --- and herself --- from a violent coup in the Congo; SON, Lois Lowry’s finale of The Giver quartet about Gabriel's mother, Claire, and her struggle to give up her son and find him again; and Rachel Cohn's BETA, which follows Alysia, an experimental model of a teenage clone, as she discovers she isn't the unfeeling clone she's supposed to be --- she has feelings, and if anyone finds out, she will suffer a fate too terrible to imagine.
