If You Ask Me: Madeline from Danville, Amanda from Memphis, TN, and Brook from Gulport, MS

Posted by jordana

This weekend's players in our round of If You Ask Me are:

There may not be any prizes, but everyone wins when with these great recommendations to add to your reading list!

Where in the world?:
AMANDA: Memphis, TN
BROOKE: Gulfport, MS

If you could trade places with any character from a book for a day, who would you be and why?

: Katsa from Graceling because she has the Grace of survival and I think it would be cool to be able to survive through anything.

AMANDA: Daine from Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce. She can talk to and transform.

BROOKE: Chloe Saunders, because it would be cool to experience her abilities and hang out with Derek and Simon.

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

MADELINE: Need by Carrie Jones. I would suggest it to a friend who liked Twilight because the Need book was a lot like Twilight with the whole evil person trying to get you. And there just happened to be a werewolf in there too. But I would most definitely recommend it.

AMANDA: The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan. Definitely. It’s an amazing series, it pulls you in, has amazing (but slightly annoying when they’re at the END OF THE BOOK) cliffhangers, and it’s also really funny.

BROOKE: THE AWAKENING by Kelley Armstrong. In fact, I have. I only recommend a book if it was well written, has a bit of romance, and overall a good story. And this story had exactly that.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

MADELINE: Katsa from Graceling, Zara from Need, and Stevie Rae from House of Night Series

AMANDA: Jacob Black from the Twilight! t series, Saphira from Eragon, and Annabeth from Percy Jackson. It’d be an interesting party...

BROOKE: Grace from SHIVER, Winnie from THI!RTEEN, Patch from HUSH, HUSH.

Do you have a favorite quote from a book? If so, what is it?

BROOKE: "Books are more real when you read them outside." — Maggie Stiefvater (Shiver)

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

AMANDA: The Book Thief - Markus Zusak Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - J.K. Rowling Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater

If you had the opportunity to meet any author (dead or alive), who would you choose to meet, and what three questions would you ask him/her?

BROOKE: Maggie Stiefvater, author of SHIVER. What goes on inside your head? Is there anyway you could tell me anything about any of your future projects? How did you go about writing as a teen?

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

MADELINE: The Lightning Thief Series. I am the only one of my friends who actually liked the movie. It didn’t necessarily follow along with the book but I think it was really good and had the same plot.

AMANDA: Twilight, New Moon, Harry Potter(s), Eragon, Angels and Demons, Inkheart, Journey to the Center of the Earth. I have yet to see a movie that compares with the book. Unless I didn’t like the book. Anyway. As long as I put the book out of my head, I did enjoy these movies.

Tell us about your favorite book series.

MADELINE: The House of Night Series. It’s about a vampyre fledgling, Zoey Redbird, who has strange powers that fledglings aren’t supposed to have. Zoey has to battle between the forces of good and evil while trying to save her undead dead best friend, Stevie Rae, who is now a red fledgling who died and then undied. The House of Night Series are books of Fiction and Romance as well as a bit of Sci-Fi Fantasy.
